Massey Honors 25-Year Members

In December of 2007, Massey initiated the tradition of providing special recognition to all Massey members who reach the milestone of 25 years of membership with the company. Nearly 400 members, local dignitaries and guests joined together to celebrate the event.

Members of the Executive team, including Baxter Phillips, Chris Adkins and Don Blankenship present HR Director Kathy Wicker with a 25-Year Certificate in 2007.
The honorees included 105 Massey members. Among them were Massey's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Don Blankenship who at the time had been with Massey for 25 years and Massey's President Baxter Phillips who had been with the company for 26 years. Incredibly, 43 of the honorees 43 had over 30 years of membership and one, Alvin Hager was honored for an amazing 44 years of dedicated work at Massey!

More recently, in December of 2008, six more members were added to the 25-year club and were honored at a meeting and dinner in Charleston, WV.

All of those honored have made significant contributions to the success of Massey Energy over the years. The continued hard work and dedication of all our members will be critical to our continued success and all members will have the opportunity to share in that success. That is why we are called Massey members rather than employees. That is why a job with Massey is more than just a paycheck; it is a chance to be a part of something special that may just last a lifetime.
